UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON-CLEAR LAKE

University of Houston-Clear Lake invites applications and nominations for a SCHOOL OF EDUCATION ASSOCIATE DEAN AND PROFESSOR WITH TENURE.

UH-Clear Lake, one of four independent universities that constitute the University of Houston System, is located in modern facilities adjacent to the NASA/Johnson Space Center midway between Houston and Galveston in the developing center of the Bay Area Houston, Texas.  UH-Clear Lake is an upper-division and graduate institution offering Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees and a Doctor of Education Degree in Educational Leadership.  With an enrollment of approximately 7800, it includes  Schools of Business, Education, Human Sciences and Humanities, and Science and Computer Engineering.  Enrollment in Education is approximately 2,000 with over 60% at the graduate level.  UHCL is one of only twelve NCATE accredited institutions in the State of Texas.

SCHOOL OF EDUCATION ASSOCIATE DEAN AND PROFESSOR WITH TENURE starting July 1, 2010 or sooner. Candidates must have an earned doctorate related to an academic area in the School of Education.  They must have proficiency in university teaching and a record of research and scholarly activity commensurate with appointment at the level of full professor.  Candidates must have three years of successful university administrative and leadership experience, preferably at doctoral granting institutions in the United States or Canada. Experience in working with field-based educator preparation programs involving university and school partnerships is preferred.  The individual selected for this position will provide leadership for faculty, research and academic program development.  Responsibilities include annual faculty reviews, promotion/tenure recommendations, course schedules and inventories, catalog updates, and student affairs, including marketing, advising, and resolving student appeals.

APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY

The Department of Leadership and Educational Studies in the Reich College of Education at Appalachian State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant/associate professor of Educational Foundations beginning August 2010. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Educational Foundations with campus and off-campus assignments, engagement in scholarly activity, and internal and external service responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate in Foundations of Education or related field
  • Demonstrated teaching/research interest and expertise in one or more of the following areas:  Social, Anthropological, Cultural, Philosophical, or Historical Foundations of Education
  • Demonstrated commitment to and analysis of conditions required for human agency, social justice, and democratic life.
  • Demonstrated potential for scholarly activity
  • Demonstrated commitment to the education of individuals for teaching and educational leadership positions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • K-12 and/or university teaching experience
  • Familiarity with current technologies and technology integration strategies pertinent to your academic discipline and teacher education

GEORGIA STATE UNIVERSITY

Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor in Social Foundations (Non-Tenure Track)

The Department of Educational Policy Studies is seeking to fill a full-time, non-tenure track clinical assistant/associate professor position in Social Foundations.  The department offers graduate degrees in three program areas:  Educational Leadership, Educational Research, and Social Foundations in Education.

The Social Foundations program currently offers the Ph.D. and M.S. degrees.  Issues of diversity and social justice are key research foci of program faculty.  Duties of this clinical position include teaching graduate-level courses in face to face and online formats, master’s program coordination, student recruitment and advisement, pursuit of collaborative research and scholarship, supervision of master’s student projects, service on master’s student thesis committees, and service to the department, college, and university.

Required Qualifications:  An earned doctorate in one of the social sciences or humanities or in a Social Foundations program; teaching experience in Social Foundations, with extensive experience developing and implementing online courses, experience working with Social Foundations faculty members; and a commitment to research and scholarship.

Desired Qualifications:  The applicant should have experience in program coordination at the university level including departmental scheduling, unit coordination, and student advisement as well as experience recruiting potential students into graduate programs and supporting students throughout their programs.
